Sort Order: Property Address
The Provincetown Board of Assessors announces
the fiscal year 2009 values, which were certification by the Massachusetts
Department of Revenue on May 12, 2009, and reflect full and fair
cash value as of Jan. 1, 2008. As required by Mass. State law, the
fiscal year 2009 assessments are based on sales of similar properties
in calendar year 2007. Property owners may research sales (see Sales
Report Section further down page) through calendar year
2007 in their neighborhood and view the proposed assessed values
by clicking on the link above "FY09
Assessed Values".
For those with limited knowlege on use of the internet or without
internet access, please contact the Assessor’s Office for
information if desired. Our staff will be available to assist you.

Assessors'
Office to Conduct Data-Quality Inspections Beginning July 1, 2008:
The Provincetown Assessors' Office will be conducting
a neighborhood-by-neighborhood data-quality review of its records.
The Massachusetts Department of Revenue requires that the Town regularly
inventory every property as part of the assessment evaluation process.
This process includes an on-site review and description of the interior
and exterior of all buildings. In particular, the Assessors' Office
will be focusing on properties that have not been inspected within
the last six years and properties that sold in calendar year 2007.
Inspections will occur Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM over
the course of the summer. The entire inspection per property generally
takes 15-20 minutes. Your cooperation in assisting the Assessors'
Office in this process is very much appreciated. Read

To all persons subject
to taxation in the Town of Provincetown: Fiscal Year 2010:
In accordance with the provisions of General Laws, Ch. 59, §
29, all individuals, partnerships, associations or trusts, and corporations,
residents of or owning property located in Provincetown are hereby
notified that they are required, on or before March 1, 2009, to
bring in to the Board of Assessors in the form prescribed by the
Commissioner of Revenue, true lists of property. See
Public Notice.

2009 - 2nd Half - Final (Actual) Tax Bills Due June 29th.
Second Half (Final/Actual)
FY 2009 property tax bills were mailed on May 27, 2009 and are due
and payable by June 29, 2009. FY09 Tax Bills are based a tax rate
of $5.54 and valuation of the property in FY09. Enclosed with the
bill is a "pre-addressed" envelope for mailing the bill.

time to file for exemptions that you may be eligible for. Please

Affordable Housing Rental Exemption:
It is time to file for this program if eligible. Please contact
the Assessor's Office for assistance. Applications will be accepted
until July 15, 2009.

Scale Calculation Request Application Procedures:
Beginning May 4, 2007, the Provincetown Assessors'
Office has implemented new procedures for Scale Calculation Request
Applications. Notable changes: 1) Final Plans, drawn to architectural
scale, must be submitted with the Scale Application, 2) Part II
of the application will now be completed by the Assessor's Office.
3) The completed application and set of plans will be given directly
to the Department of Community Development from the Assessor's Office.
A descriptive set of instructions is attached to the Scale Calculation

Year-round rentals.
Provincetown has obtained special state legislation-- Chapter
408 of the Acts of 2002-- which allows our Town to grant property
tax exemptions for affordable year-round rental units. Read

FY 2009 - January 1, 2008 assessed
values total $2.552-Billion; Down -2.19% from January 1, 2007. Provincetown's
total assessed valuations decreased by -2.19% between January 1,
2007 (FY 2008) and January 1, 2008 (FY 2009), the Board of Assessors
has announced. The Massachusetts Department of Revenue has recertified
& approvedProvincetown's assessed
values for FY 2009 in the total amount of $2,551,519,000.
As shown in the table below, the total value of the residential
class of property decreased by -1.95% in the past year; while the
commercial class decreased by -3.61%.

Exemption/Deferral Forms & Brochures
As
a resident of Provincetown, you may qualify for a tax exemption.
An exemption releases an individual from the requirement to pay
all or a portion of his/her property tax obligations. Exemptions
may be available to those individuals that meet the various requirements
in the following categories: Surviving Spouse, Minor Child,
Elderly Person, Blind Person, Disabled Veteran/Surviving Spouse,
Surviving Spouse/Minor Child(ren) of Police or Firefighter Killed
in the Line of Duty, or Senior Volunteer Work Credit.
Also, Massachusetts allows you to defer your taxes
if you are 65 years or older and meet certain ownership, residency,
and income/asset qualifications.

Sales Reports
The
reports listed below provide details of
properties that sold in the Town of Provincetown. Sales
reports that are considered "arms-length sales" (a sale between
two unrelated parties, each of whom is reasonably knowledgeable
of market conditions and under no undue pressure to buy or sell)
are coded as follows: CY 2001-2004 with "AL" - CY 2005-2008
with "QS". All
sales reports are current through
March 31, 2009
