Nomination Papers Available for
May 4, 2010 Town Election

Nomination papers for the Town of Provincetown's Annual Town Election to be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 are now available from the Office of the Town Clerk located at Provincetown Town Hall, 16 Jerome Smith Road, Provincetown, MA 02657. Any registered voter of the town shall be eligible for election to any office, but no person shall concurrently hold more than one elected office. Election to any office shall be nonpartisan. The following offices will appear on the ballot:

Board of Selectmen:
Two positions for a three-year term beginning May 5, 2010 to May 7, 2013.

School Committee:
Two positions for a three-year term beginning May 5, 2010 to May 7, 2013.

Board of Library Trustees:
One position for a three-year term beginning May 5, 2010 to May 7, 2013.

Charter Enforcement Commission:
One position for a three-year term beginning May 5, 2010 to May 7, 2013.
One position for a one-year term beginning May 5, 2010 to May 3, 2011.

Housing Authority:
One position for five-year term beginning May 5, 2010 to May 5, 2015.
One position for a two-year term beginning May 5, 2010 to May 1, 2012.

Election packets for candidates are available from the Provincetown Town Clerk's Office. The last day for a candidate to obtain nomination papers is 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Nomination papers must then be filed with the Town Clerk before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. For additional information please contact Town Clerk Doug Johnstone.

Provincetown Charter section 2-4-2 provides that "The regular elections to any office shall be by official ballot held on the first Tuesday in May of each year." Provincetown's elected officials are the Board of Selectmen, Town Moderator, Charter Enforcement Commission, Housing Authority, Board of Library Trustees, and School Committee.
