Assistant Town Accountant

The Town of Provincetown is accepting applications for an Assistant Town Accountant in the Department of Municipal Finance.  Job responsibilities include the processing of accounts payable and general warrants, posting collector receipts to the general ledger, balancing treasurer receipts to accounting receipts, preparing trial balances on the general and special funds and overseeing budget balances for all town departments, assisting with payroll processing when needed, and all other related work as assigned or required.

 

Associates Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, including or supplemented by courses in accounting/data processing; or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred; three years experience in bookkeeping and accounting, preferably in a municipal setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Job descriptions, pay scale and an employment application may be obtained from the office of the Town Manager, 260 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA 02657.
