Interlibrary Loan

If your interests, research, or genealogical needs go beyond what the Clams Catalog offers, the Provincetown Public Library will obtain material you request through the interlibrary loan methods available to us.

Virtual Catalog

The Virtual Catalog is an easy place to check for books, DVD's, CD's if they are NOT available in Clams. It is a statewide catalog where you can search by author or title. The Virtual Catalog is also available to you from the top page of the Clams Catalog. You can search the Virtual Catalog yourself at home or in the Library.

Tips:
To borrow from this catalog you need to have an up-to-date Clams Library card.
You can even select the Clams library where you'll pick up the material.
You can log in as a Guest but then you will not have borrowing privileges.
You cannot renew material.
If you have fines in the Clams catalog or if your Clams card has expired, your request in the Virtual Catalog will not be recognized.
To answer any questions, call the Library at 508.487.7094 or check with a staff member at the Front Desk.

Beyond the Virtual Catalog

If you are looking for material NOT available to you in the Virtual catalog, such as journal articles as well as books, the Library will try to obtain these for you. Please contact us to leave us the information - author, title, dates if available - and we will locate the material.
If the library accrues postage costs, we may ask you to reimbursement us.

FamilySearch
Genealogy

If you are doing family history, family tree or genealogical research, the Library can request for you census, vital, probate and church records of your ancestors from the worldwide indexing project of the Church of Later Day Saints called FamilySearch. The microfilm or microfiche is then sent to us and you can view this on the Library's microfim reader printer.

Tips:
You will need to search for the material yourself through the various search options on FamilySearch.
When you locate the material you want, click on View Film Notes and copy down the title of the item, film location number and item number.
Then fill out the microfilm/fiche order card at the Library front desk.
When you submit this request we will order the items for you.
You will then be responsible for the delivery and return postal fees when you come to get the items you borrowed.
