Community Response Forum on Hate Crimes: The Provincetown No Place for Hate Committee and the Board of Selectmen will co-host a community response forum on Hate Crimes at 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Larkin Hall at the Center for Coastal Studies on Prince St. This type of meeting is a successful follow-up strategy used by communities that have experienced hate crimes. The Lady of the Dunes - 1974. On July 26, 1974 the body of an unidentified white female was found in the dunes approximately one mile east of Race Point Beach. The Provincetown Police Department is seeking assistance in solving this 28-year old murder investigation. Click here for details, pictures and description. The Outer Cape Council Against Domestic Abuse. OCCADA's mission is to educate the public and provide free confidential resources to victims of domestic violence. There are several links on the website that direct victims to the local police, Independence House and other resource agencies.

No Place for Hate. The Board of Selectmen has proclaimed Provincetown as "No Place for Hate." Earlier, the Board of Selectmen has voted, upon the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its adoption in 1992 of the resolution that "hate crimes of any type will not be tolerated in the Town of Provincetown," does hereby reaffirm its commitment to that resolution and its support for the Town's Community-Oriented Policing Plan to Overcome Hate Incidents , and authorize the reactivation of the Community-Oriented Policing Hate Plan Working Group by the Chief of Police and the Town Manager.
