Tobacco Regulations

Where can I smoke at restaurants and bars?

Since 2002, smoking has been prohibited in Provincetown in all public places, restaurants, bars, and bar areas of restaurants.

If the restaurant or bar has an outdoor area and has received permission from the Board of Health for an outdoor smoking area, you may be allowed to smoke in that outdoor area. There are heavy restrictions on outdoor smoking areas, however, so you may not be allowed to smoke at the time that you wish to. Outdoor smoking areas occur only after service has ended, meaning there shall not be workers (including hosts, food service staff, bar staff, bussers, or cleaning personnel) currently working in those areas. No smoke may migrate into a workspace.
