On February 15, 2023, the Provincetown School Committee voted 5-0-0 to appoint the district's Interim Superintendent, Gerry Goyette, the next Superintendent of Provincetown Schools IB World School, pending successful contract negotiations. The vote was a result of deliberations based on the recommendations of the Superintendent Search Committee and Mr. Goyette's evolution during his time as interim superintendent.
“I am so proud and excited to serve as the educational leader for the town in which I live,” said Interim Superintendent Gerry Goyette. “As the leader of an IB school, I hope that I continue to exemplify the IB learner profile attributes in my leadership. While I truly enjoyed being the principal previously, I am looking forward to maintaining contact with the students in my new role as superintendent.”
Goyette has worked in education for 35 years, beginning his career in education in 1988 as a science and math teacher. He previously served as the Middle School Principal in Sutton, Massachusetts before becoming Provincetown IB Schools Principal in 2021. Goyette has served as Provincetown Schools Interim Superintendent since July 2021.
“It's been a pleasure to work with Mr. Goyette as an Interim Superintendent. His work ethic and management style are exactly what our school district needs,” said Eva Enos, Chair of the Provincetown School Committee. “His ability to forge and cultivate relationships with all stakeholders is evident. What started as a temporary solution evolved into an offering for a permanent position and we could not be more excited about what the future holds.”
