Provincetown Water Department Receives Public Water Systems Award

The Town of Provincetown is pleased to announce that the Provincetown Water Department has been recognized as one of the top performers in the Medium and Large Community System Category of the 2023 Public Water Systems Awards Program. The Water Department received this prestigious recognition for its outstanding commitment to delivering safe and reliable drinking water to Provincetown’s residents, visitors, and customers.

Water Superintendent Cody Salisbury and Public Works Director Jim Vincent were present at the Massachusetts State House to receive the award at a ceremony held on May 11, 2023. The Public Water Systems Awards Program is an annual event that recognizes the outstanding efforts of public water systems in Massachusetts for their commitment to providing high-quality drinking water to their communities.

"We are extremely proud to receive this recognition, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team at the Provincetown Water Department," said Water Superintendent Cody Salisbury. "This award is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to providing our residents and customers with safe and reliable drinking water."

The Provincetown Water Department has been providing high-quality drinking water to its customers for over 100 years. The department is responsible for operating and maintaining the town's water supply and distribution system, which includes two treatment plants, 11 wells, and over 45 miles of water distribution piping.

Town Manager Alex B. Morse added, "I want to congratulate Cody and all of the staff of the Water Department for their hard work and dedication to maintaining the highest standards of water quality and service."

The Public Water Systems Awards Program is sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the Massachusetts Water Works Association. It recognizes public water systems that have demonstrated a commitment to providing safe and reliable drinking water to their communities.
