1. Where can I reserve a mooring or slip for a night or a weekend?

Call Flyer’s Boat Shop at 508-487-0898 or hail them on VHF CH 11; Provincetown Marina at 508-487-0571 or on VHF CH 09; or Long Point Marina at 774-593-5120 or on VHF CH 14.

2. Where can I tie up my boat for a few hours?

Call Flyer’s at 508-487-0898, or hail them on VHF CH 11, or Provincetown Marina on Fisherman's Wharf at 508-487-0571, VHF CH 09.

3. Where can I drop anchor in the Harbor?

East or west of the breakwater. If to the west, be sure to stay out of the channel and to the west of the Town mooring field. Be mindful that Provincetown has a 10’ tidal range. Anchorage is also available south of the Coast Guard Pier between Flyer’s and the Town mooring fields. There is no launch service to the anchorage fields.

4. Where can I tie up my dinghy?

If you are looking to tie up a dinghy (16’ or less, no windshield, no steering wheel) for the season, we have a Dinghy Dock, but you must purchase a permit at the Harbormaster’s Office. If you are on ancho, you can use the Dinghy Dock for 7 hours free of charge.

5. Can I anchor or hook up to a mooring behind the breakwater?

No, because that area is a private mooring field.

6. Can I get a pump-out?

We do pump-outs from 8 AM to 4 PM every day weather permitting. Call us at 508-487-7030 or hail us on VHF CH 12 to get on the schedule. Give us your location (mooring or slip number for Flyers or Provincetown Moorings, or where in the Harbor you are anchored) and the name and description of your vessel. There is also a self-service pump-out facility located on the courtesy float between MacMillan Wharf and Provincetown Marina.

7. Where can I get gas for my boat?

There is a CITGO gas and diesel dock located on the west side of the Provincetown Marina pier. If you need diesel fuel for larger vessels, call Marcey Oil at 508-487-0219 or Cape Cod Oil at 508-487-0205 for fuel delivery to MacMillan Wharf. Also call the Harbormaster at 508-487-7030 for dock instructions.

8. What can I do if my boat is disabled or out of gas in the Harbor?

If you are in the Harbor, call Flyer’s Boat Shop at 508-487-0898 or hail them on VHF CH 11 or call TowBoatUS in Provincetown at 508-742-7166. If you are outside the Harbor, hail the Coast Guard on VHF CH 16. If it is not a life-threatening emergency, the Coast Guard will contact TowBoatUS, which may take up to 1 hour. Exceptions can be made in the event of an emergency and is at the discretion of staff on duty in the Harbormaster's office.

9. Can you jump-start a battery? Do you have a compressor to pump up my inflatable?

10. Is there a U.S. Customs Office in Town?

There is a Customs Office at the entrace to the Cape Cod Canal, which is located in Sandwich The Port is a designated a Port-of-Entry only for aliens who are arriving in the United States as crewmen as that term is defined in section 101(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended, with respect to vessels.. Vessels departing U.S. waters for Canada do not need to report to the U.S. Customs Office. Vessels coming in from a foreign port must check in with the U.S. Customs in person at the Cape Cod Canal. New Bedford is a Port of Entry at which a Customs and Border Protection officer is authorized to accept entries of merchandise to collect duties, and to enforce the various provisions of the customs and navigation laws (19 CFR 101.1).The telephone number for the U.S. Customs Office in New Bedford is 508-994-5158.

11. Where can I rent a boat?

12. Where can I launch my boat?

At the West End Boat Parking Lot/Boat Ramp. It is a metered lot, but you can leave your trailer after launching on the east side of the ramp for 24 hours. There is no long-term trailer parking in Town.

13. Where can I launch a jet ski?

Jet skis must be launched from Good Templar Place Town Landing next to Flyer’s Boat Shop at 131A Commercial Street. You will not be able to leave your car and trailer there. According to the Harbor Regulations, jet skis are allowed only in the channel heading out to the #3 Green Buoy and must operate only at headway speed inside the mooring fields.

14. Where can I buy charts of the area?

Land's End Hardware sells fishing charts and the Harbormaster's Office has a Harbor brochure that includes a chart, however it is no suitable for navigation purposes.

15. Where can I buy equipment for my boat?

Land’s End Marine Supply at 337 Commercial Street, Marine Specialties at 235 Commercial Street or Flyer’s Boat Shop on at 131A Commercial Street at the end of Good Templar Place.

16. Where can I buy ice?

You can purchase non-consumable ice for $15 per tote at the Harbormaster’s Office.

17. Where can I buy bait?

Nelson’s Bait & Tackle located at 43 Race Point Road. Drive off the Pier, through Lopes Square onto Standish Street and bear right onto Bradford Street. Take a left on Conwell Street, drive through the lights across Route 6 and onto Race Point Road. Take the first right at the top of the hill.

18. Where can I charter a fishing boat?

There are several charter fishing vessels on the MacMillan Wharf: The Cee-Jay, Beth Ann, Ginny-G, and Keepin It Kool, to name a few. The Cee Jay and Ginny G have booths along the west side of the Pier, other charter boats are located on the east side of the Pier. There are brochures in the Harbormaster’s office.

19. Is there a car ferry to Boston?

The fast ferries from Provincetown to Boston are passenger only vessels, however there are car ferries from Hyannis and Woods Hole to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. There are two companies operating from MacMillan Wharf. Bay State Cruises lands at the World Trade Center and Boston Harbor Cruises lands at Long Wharf in Boston.

20. Where do the Boston ferries dock?

Near the end of the MacMillan Wharf on the west side.

21. Where can I buy a ticket for the ferry?

Both ferry companies have ticket booths next to the ferry gangway near the end of MacMillan Wharf on the west side.

22. Can I park to pick up a passenger at the ferry dock?

You can drive out to the end of the MacMillan Wharf and park until the ferry unloads. Pay attention to staff directing traffic.

23. Where can I park for a few hours?

You can park in the Municipal Parking Lot at the foot of the MacMillan Wharf, or in the private lot a block away on the corner of Standish and Bradford Streets.

24. Where are the Town beaches?

There are Town beaches to the right and to the left of MacMillan Wharf.. The National Seashore also has beaches. Shuttle information is available at the Chamber of Commerce at the base of MacMillan Wharf.

25. Are there public restrooms on MacMillan Wharf?

Yes, they are located next to the Harbormaster’s Office.

26. Where can I buy fresh seafood?

Stop-n-Shop and Mac's Seafood, both located on Shank Painter Road.

27. Who are the women pictured on the building at the end of Fisherman's Wharf?

They were family members of Provincetown fishermen. The exhibit is called “They Also Faced the Sea”. There is a brochure available at the Harbormaster’s Office.

28. How do I get a mooring? Is there a waiting list?

Stop by the Harbormaster’s Office for a mooring application. There is no waiting list except for moorings behind the breakwater. Moorings are available southwest of the Coast Guard Pier and limited other areas.

29. What can you do about a boat that may be abandoned on the beach?

If there is no danger to your property, we will contact the owner using the registration, beached boat sticker and/or mooring number. If there is danger to property (or the boat) we will come out and secure it, or tow and secure it to avoid damage to property.
